Mica Tube

SIDA Mica Tubes are premium-grade electrical insulating tubes manufactured from high-quality muscovite or phlogopite mica paper bonded with heat-resistant silicone resin. Engineered for extreme environments, these tubes deliver exceptional dielectric strength, thermal stability up to 1000°C, and reliable mechanical protection for heating elements and electrical components in industrial and commercial applications.

Description

SIDA Mica Tubes represent the pinnacle of high-temperature insulation technology. Formed by precision rolling of calcined mica paper impregnated with specially formulated silicone resin, these rigid tubes undergo controlled thermal curing to achieve outstanding dimensional stability and electrical performance.
Our manufacturing process ensures precise wall thickness control with tolerance accuracy up to ±0.2mm upon request, delivering smooth inner and outer surfaces that facilitate easy assembly and optimal heat transfer. Unlike conventional ceramic tubes, SIDA Mica Tubes offer superior thermal shock resistance, will not crack under rapid temperature cycling, and maintain structural integrity in both continuous operation and overload conditions.
The product line includes Muscovite Mica Tubes (white/amber, max 600°C) for standard applications and Phlogopite Mica Tubes (golden brown, max 1000°C) for extreme heat environments. Both variants exhibit excellent resistance to corona discharge, low water absorption (<0.5%), and minimal smoke emission when heated, meeting stringent environmental and safety requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: What is the difference between Muscovite and Phlogopite Mica Tubes?
A1: Muscovite tubes (white) offer superior dielectric strength and are ideal for applications up to 600°C. Phlogopite tubes (golden) provide higher temperature resistance up to 1000°C with slightly lower mechanical strength. Choose based on your maximum operating temperature and electrical requirements.
Q2: Can SIDA Mica Tubes be machined to custom dimensions?
A2: Yes. While we offer standard diameters (8-300mm) and lengths (10-1100mm), we can provide precision machining services for tight tolerances (±0.2mm), custom wall thicknesses, and special end finishes. Contact our engineering team for custom specifications.
Q3: How do mica tubes compare to ceramic tubes?
A3: Mica tubes provide better thermal shock resistance, lighter weight (density 2.1 vs 3.8 g/cm³), and easier machinability. They also produce minimal smoke and odor when heated, unlike some ceramics. However, ceramics may offer slightly higher compressive strength for extreme mechanical loads.
Q4: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
A4: Standard sizes have no MOQ requirements. Custom dimensions typically require a minimum order of 100-500 pieces depending on size complexity. Sample orders are welcome for testing and qualification.
Q5: How should mica tubes be stored and handled?
A5: Store in original packaging in a dry, clean environment (<70% RH). Avoid mechanical impact and exposure to moisture. Handle with clean gloves to prevent contamination. Shelf life is 24 months when stored properly.
Q6: Are your mica tubes suitable for vacuum applications?
A6: Yes. Our low-outgassing silicone resin system makes them suitable for vacuum environments up to 10⁻⁶ Torr. For ultra-high vacuum applications, we recommend our specially processed low-volatile grade.
