Nylon Threaded Rod

SIDA Nylon Threaded Rod – Engineered from premium PA6/PA66 polyamide, these high-performance insulation fasteners provide exceptional dielectric strength, mechanical durability, and chemical resistance. Ideal for electrical assemblies, transformer components, and harsh industrial environments where non-conductive, corrosion-proof fastening is critical. Available in M6-M30 diameters with custom lengths.

Description

SIDA Nylon Threaded Rods are manufactured from virgin polyamide resin (PA6 or PA66) using precision extrusion and thread-rolling processes. This ensures consistent thread geometry, high tensile strength, and reliable performance in electrical insulation applications.
Key Performance Characteristics:
  • Electrical Insulation: Superior dielectric properties with volume resistivity exceeding 10¹⁴ Ω·cm and dielectric strength >15 kV/mm, meeting GB/T 1408 & IEC 60243 standards.
  • Mechanical Strength: Tensile strength of 80-85 MPa and flexural modulus of 2,800 MPa provide robust load-bearing capacity for structural applications.
  • Thermal Stability: Continuous operating temperature range of -40°C to +120°C (PA66) with short-term peaks up to 150°C. Low thermal conductivity prevents heat transfer.
  • Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to oils, greases, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and most common solvents. Suitable for transformer oil immersion per GB/T 1409 compatibility testing.
  • Corrosion-Free: Unlike metal fasteners, nylon eliminates galvanic corrosion and is ideal for marine, chemical, and outdoor applications.
  • Lightweight: Approximately 1/7th the weight of steel, reducing overall equipment load.
Manufacturing & Quality Control: Each batch undergoes rigorous testing per GB/T and ASTM standards for dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and electrical performance. Threads are formed using cold-rolling to preserve material integrity and strength. RoHS and REACH compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is the difference between PA6 and PA66 nylon threaded rods? A: PA66 has higher tensile strength (82 MPa vs 75 MPa), better heat resistance (120°C vs 85°C continuous), and lower moisture absorption. PA6 offers better impact resistance and is more cost-effective. Choose PA66 for high-temperature transformer applications; PA6 for general-purpose insulation.
Q2: Can nylon threaded rods be used in oil-immersed transformers? A: Yes. Our PA66 rods are tested per GB/T 1409-2006 for transformer oil compatibility (168h @ 105°C). The dielectric loss factor change is <0.015, ensuring no oil contamination. We recommend PA66 over PA6 for continuous oil immersion above 80°C.
Q3: How do you cut and thread nylon rods without damaging them? A: Use sharp, fine-toothed saws (e.g., hacksaw with 24 TPI) at low speed to prevent melting. Deburr edges with a utility knife. For threading, use carbide-tipped dies with cutting oil. Avoid excessive torque during fastening – use washers to distribute load.
Q4: What is the maximum tightening torque for nylon threaded rods? A: Recommended torque is 30-50% of steel equivalents. For M12 rod: 8-12 Nm. Over-tightening causes creep. Use torque wrenches and consider thread-locking adhesives (e.g., nylon-safe anaerobic) for permanent assemblies.
Q5: Are UV-resistant grades available for outdoor applications? A: Yes. We offer black UV-stabilized PA66 with 2% carbon black additive, extending outdoor lifespan from 2 years to 10+ years. Meets ASTM G154 accelerated weathering tests. Standard natural nylon is not recommended for direct UV exposure.
Q6: What testing certificates do you provide? A: Each batch includes Material Test Report (MTR) per GB/T standards. Upon request: RoHS/REACH compliance certificate, UL94 flammability test report, dielectric strength test per GB/T 1408.1-2006. Third-party UL/CSA certification available for volume orders.
