Polyester Banding Tape

Electrical-grade moisture-resistant polyester banding tape, impregnated with high-temperature resin, designed for arc resistance and flashover minimization in motor windings and electrical insulation applications. Thicknesses 0.17/0.2/0.30 mm; widths 10/20/25/50 mm; insulation classes B/F/H (130/155/180°C).

Description

This polyester banding tape is engineered for demanding electrical insulation environments. It is a parallel-wibed glass-based tape impregnated with an uncured or pre-impregnated resin system, offering excellent dielectric strength, arc resistance, and reduced flashover risk. The resin system combines modified polyester resin with thermosetting epoxy and polyimide components to deliver robust performance under high-temperature operating conditions. The tape is moisture resistant and suitable for motor windings, transformers, and other electrical/electronic assemblies where reliable insulation and mechanical reinforcement are required. Typical applications include winding insulation, component isolation, and protective wrapping in motors, generators, and electrical control systems. The product can be specified for Class B, F, or H insulation needs, supporting operation up to 130°C, 155°C, or 180°C respectively depending on the chosen thickness and width.

FAQs

  • What insulation classes are available?

    • Available in B (130°C), F (155°C), and H (180°C) ratings, depending on thickness and width selections. See the data table for exact combinations.

  • What materials is the tape made from?

    • A parallel glass fiber base impregnated with a resin system composed of modified polyester resin and a thermosetting epoxy resin, delivering good arc resistance and reduced flashover risk.

  • What is the thickness and width range?

    • Thickness options: 0.17 mm, 0.20 mm, 0.30 mm. Width options: 10 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm.

  • Is the tape suitable for high-humidity environments?

    • Yes, it is designed for moisture resistance to maintain insulation performance in damp conditions.

  • How should the tape be applied in winding or insulation work?

    • Apply with consistent tension along windings or edges, ensuring full contact and overlap as per winding standard practices; cure/setting depends on the resin system used in the specific product variant.

Standards and testing references

  • Compliance and testing standards should be referenced from the supplier’s data sheet where available, including dielectric strength, arc resistance, and insulation class performance under temperature. Include standard test methods such as dielectric breakdown voltage, shrinkage under heat, and moisture resistance tests per applicable IEC/EN standards for insulation materials.
