Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: What is the difference between polyimide tape and PET film tape?
A: Polyimide tape withstands continuous temperatures up to 260°C (400°C short-term) with superior dielectric strength (≥150 kV/mm). PET film tape is limited to 130-150°C and lower voltage applications. Polyimide is ideal for high-reliability applications like aerospace and EV batteries, while PET film suits general insulation at lower temperatures. Both are available from SIDA for different performance requirements.
Q2: Is SIDA polyimide tape UL certified?
A: Yes. Our SIDA-PI series meets UL 510 for electrical insulation and UL 94 V-0 for flame retardancy. UL File Number: E20780 (Intertape® 4118 equivalent). We provide certificates of compliance with each shipment.
Q3: Can this tape be used for 3D printer beds?
A: Absolutely. The SIDA-PI-2540 (40μm) model is ideal for 3D printing platforms, providing excellent first-layer adhesion at 60-100°C and easy removal without residue. It withstands repeated heating cycles up to 260°C.
Q4: What adhesive type is used, and will it leave residue?
A: We use high-performance silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive cured for high-temperature stability. When applied correctly and removed within temperature ratings, it leaves zero adhesive residue, verified by ASTM D3330 testing.
Q5: What is the shelf life and storage requirements?
A: 2-year shelf life when stored in original packaging at 23°C ±5°C, 50% ±10% RH. Store suspended in boxes away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. Do not erect rolls vertically.
Q6: Can you provide custom widths and die-cut shapes?
A: Yes. We offer precision slitting from 5mm to 1040mm width, and custom die-cutting services for battery tabs, PCB gold finger masks, and specialized insulation components. Minimum order quantities apply for custom sizes.
Q7: How does SIDA compare to 3M or DuPont Kapton® tape?
A: SIDA polyimide tape meets the same ASTM D5213 and UL standards as major brands, with equivalent thermal and electrical performance. We offer competitive pricing, shorter lead times, and flexible customization options for OEM customers, while maintaining ±2.5μm coating precision.
